Abbey Mei Otis is a writer and Assistant Professor of English, raised in North Carolina, USA.
She loves people and art forms on the margins. Her story collection, Alien Virus Love Disaster was a finalist for the Philip K. Dick Award, and her stories have recently appeared in journals including McSweeney's, Tin House, Guernica, and The Offing. As a professor, she researches speculative fiction as written by and for queer and marginalized populations, the history of science fiction, folklore, fairy tales, body horror, human-animal hybrids, the grotesque/sublime/monstrous, collaborative story forms, and games, interactive literature, hypertext, experimental video games, anarchist manifestos, pulp & low culture, anti-hierarchical mentoring, critical pedagogy, and community teaching.
Otis contributed to the Magic Story for Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty.[1]
