Abomination

Abomination is an obsolete creature subtype representing creatures that are considered unnatural and whose very existence causes disgust and/or hatred.

Description[ | ]

Abomination debuted as a creature type in Legends for the card of the same name - Abomination. This original Abomination appeared as a red-skinned fat hairless humanoid with no lips and exposed teeth. It was from somewhere on Dominaria though nothing else is known about it. The type was removed in the Grand Creature Type Update and consolidated into Horror. Since the type became obsolete, there have been 18 other creatures that have been called abominations. Eight of these have been horrors, five have been zombies, while the remaining were eldrazi, elemental, illusion, mutant, and thrull.

Storyline[ | ]

Abominations can theoretically be found on any plane.

Alara[ | ]

Alara is home to Etherium Abominations which are mechanical beings given life by etherium. They resemble mechanical goblins.

Amonkhet[ | ]

Amonkhet is home to the Graven Abomination which large humanoid with a lizard-like body and demonic skull for a head.

Dominaria[ | ]

Dominaria is home to various abominations including the original Abomination that inhabits an unknown location on the plane. Two legendary abominations are found on the plane including the Abomination of Llanowar and Howling Abomination. The thrull Feral Abomination can also be found which appears as a worm-like body and a torso with numerous claws. During New Phyrexia's Invasion of the Multiverse, the plane also saw the appearance of the ancient Phyrexian monstrosities called Toxic Abominations which had putrid ichor leaking from their rusted forms. In the cabal arena on Otaria, one could find Twisted Abominations, mutant zombies several times larger than a human with numerous arms and multiple feet.

Innistrad[ | ]

Innistrad is home to Falcon Abominations, a type of zombie bird with a bird's body but the head of a human zombie stitched onto it. Ludevic of Ulm also created a type of abomination known as Ludevic's Abomination which is a large lizard horror that hatches from an egg. He created it to be able to feed on torch-wielding mobs after some of his previous creatures died to them. Ulvenwald created abominations from werewolves by its plants melding with them creating Ulvenwald Captives.

Lorwyn–Shadowmoor[ | ]

Lorwyn–Shadowmoor is home to the Canker Abominations, a type of diseased treefolk horror.

Mirrodin/New Phyrexia[ | ]

Before Mirrodin became New Phyrexia, the plane had Nim Abominations which were people who were zombified by Necrogen so much they lost all vestiges of humanity.

Ravnica[ | ]

Ravnica is home to Maze Abominations, large centipede-like elementals, that inhabit the Implicit Maze.

Takir[ | ]

Takir is home to Abominations that inhabit Guhul, a series of islands that dot the river delta of the Sultai Brood. They are horrors in the form of a humanoid bats.

Zendikar[ | ]

During the fight against the Eldrazi, the plane saw the appearance Smothering Abominations.

Unknown[ | ]

In the home plane of Lestin, a Necromancer, a type of Minotaur Abomination existed, which was two zombie minotaurs fused via flesh on their back.

Un-iverse[ | ]

Myra the Magnificent's Intergalactic Astrotorium of Fun of the Un-iverse is home to Vegetation Abominations which are mutated living vegetables.
