A little confused on the editting context of capitalization. Where I'm from creature types and names are capitalized always, while I share the same distinction that colors aren't. Anyone have insight on when to and when not to capitalize such as what is the correct/capitalization in these sentences:—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Cashew (talkcontribs) March 19, 2008.

My favorite card is the Derelor. Endrek Sahr once created a Derelor. A Derelor is a type of black Thrull.

I'd capitalize it just like you have it. --GeoMike 10:44, 19 March 2008 (GMT)
We really don't have any capitalization rules, but we probably should. --GeoMike 11:52, 19 March 2008 (GMT)
I have to say I object to capitalization of these terms, simply because they're not proper nouns.--Filby 17:16, 19 March 2008 (GMT)
Shows how much I know about capitalization. --GeoMike 20:21, 19 March 2008 (GMT)
Wouldn't a card name be a proper noun? --Cashew 22:09, 19 March 2008 (GMT)
Yes --GeoMike 22:30, 19 March 2008 (GMT)
Yeah, but we're using the terms in an in-universe context. WotC doesn't capitalize "elves" or "goblins" in flavor text. (They may have in the past, but that was before they standardized things.)--Filby 23:43, 19 March 2008 (GMT)
Do not capitalize them. See the flavor text of Derelor. --MORT (T) 23:50, 19 March 2008 (GMT)
However Magic the Gathering.com writers capitalize all tribes and all card names, almost universally. Here is a quote from a recent work:

"Since then, House of Cards has been a virtual clearinghouse for Giant and Giant-related decks. I helped in the production of millions upon millions of giant tokens (courtesy of Pact of the Titan, so they were also Giant tokens). I've built decks around Giant-helpers like Kithkin Greatheart and Elvish Handservant, in both budget and non-budget form. Many of the Johnnier Giants have been the subject of some fun deck experiments, including Hamletback Goliath, Boldwyr Heavyweights....." [1]

I think that is what Filby meant, the quote is from an outside context, i.e. deck building, while our storyline articles are written in an in-universe context. Oracle of Truth 16:01, 20 March 2008 (GMT)
Still finding vast conflicts in all story sources. From articles, to books, to comics, to the duelst stories. The Duelist capitalizes all creature types whether telling a story or talking about cards. The ARMADA comics capitalize as well. Some writers writing online do, some don't. Some cards do capitalize some don't, it's almost like they never really covered it in their style guide or enforced it. --Cashew 15:42, 24 March 2008 (GMT)
