Aleksandar was a young human from Innistrad who became host to Umbris.
Description[ | ]
Aleksandar was a young man with a lean, gangly frame and a mop of messy blonde hair. Though he was tall for his age, his awkward stature and youthful appearance gave him a somewhat unsteady presence. Despite his apparent lack of maturity, he carried a sense of earnest determination, especially when it came to protecting his family and fulfilling his obligations.
History[ | ]
In the past, Aleksandar had been struggling to keep up with his family's financial needs. His father was dealing with delayed contracts, which put their smithy at risk of not being able to cover the rent. Aleksandar's earnest plea for more time from Vytas, the local aristocrat, was met with dismissal, though Torens, an outsider, advocated for him. Torens's sympathy led to Aleksandar being assigned to help with the investigation of a mysterious keep that had recently been emitting unsettling noises.
When Torens and Boris ventured into the keep, Aleksandar, despite his father's insistence that he stay behind, chose to follow them. He sought to offer protection as a matter of honor, believing that Torens's intervention in their financial crisis warranted it. His bravery, however, was short-lived as he was soon caught up in the horrors within the keep.
Inside the keep, Torens and Aleksandar encountered Eruth, a prisoner of malevolent forces. It was revealed that Vytas and Boris were cultists, involved in a dark ritual orchestrated by a nightmare horror named Umbris. This creature had been using the keep as a lair, extracting human emotions and suffering to maintain control over the village, which had been led to believe it was under protection.
Aleksandar, now a vessel for Umbris, was bound in a circle of runes and subjected to the demon’s control. Torens and Eruth discovered Aleksandar's plight when they ventured into the deepest part of the keep, where Umbris revealed itself and its twisted scheme.
Despite his bravery, Aleksandar could not escape the grasp of the nightmare. The situation culminated in a confrontation where Umbris offered Torens a deal: relinquish his pain and accept a false sense of purpose or continue to face the torment of reality. Torens chose to confront the nightmare, but the emotional weight of Aleksandar’s fate and his past failures haunted him.
Torens made a deal with Umbris to relinquish control of Aleksandar for its freedom. Umbris honored the bargain. Aleksandar was brought outside the keep, and as Boris and Vytas were stoned to death by enraged villagers, Umbris let go of Aleksandar's body and vanished. Torens cradled the confused and grieving boy in his arms, swearing to hunt the nightmare down.[1]
