Aresaan is a Boros Legion angel on the plane of Ravnica.

Description[ | ]

Aresaan is a disgraced angel within the Boros Legion, once a formidable Warleader. Thirty years before the War of the Spark, she made a catastrophic battlefield decision that resulted in the deaths of fifteen thousand Boros soldiers. As a result, she was stripped of her wings and most of her magical abilities, leaving her with only a few rallying spells to assist in recruitment efforts. Despite her demotion and exile, Aresaan retains the inherent arrogance and intrusiveness characteristic of angels. She is a striking figure with radiant red hair, and her presence is both captivating and intimidating. Despite her demotion, Aresaan retains significant magical abilities, particularly in fire and healing, which she uses to her advantage. Her motivations are driven by a desire to reclaim her former status and power.

History[ | ]

When the newly promoted Ossett Weslyn received a coded invitation from her boss, Aresaan attempted to harass the Wojek counterintelligence agent, thinking she had been put above her station. Weslyn brushed the angel off, and the clue eventually led the minotaur to a murder scene. Weslyn realized she’d been framed for the deaths of high-ranking officials within the Boros Legion. Suspecting Aresaan’s involvement, Weslyn wondered if the angel had conspired with others to set her up.

When Weslyn was brought in for questioning regarding the poisonings of high-ranking officials, Aresaan initially appeared to be absent. Aresaan later reappeared when Weslyn was being interrogated by the guards. She showed her still-powerful magic by performing a dramatic spell that revealed the Rubblebelt dust on the minotaur guard's uniform, implicating her in the conspiracy.

Using her fire magic, Aresaan neutralized a piece of evidence — a death elixir — by vaporizing it. She then helped Weslyn confront the real culprit, Sergeant Embrel Skormak. Her actions revealed that Skormak was the mastermind behind the poisonings and the frame-up.

Aresaan supported Weslyn in confronting Skormak, who was revealed to be plotting to advance his position within the Legion by creating chaos and implicating Weslyn. Aresaan's presence and actions were instrumental in ensuring Skormak's defeat. She used her water elemental magic to extinguish the flames created by Skormak, leading to his ultimate defeat and transformation into ashes.

After the confrontation, Aresaan appeared more subdued, her radiant appearance returning to normal. She offered Weslyn congratulations on her promotion and acknowledged her efforts, implying a newfound respect for her.[1]
