Arinos was a farmer from Lambholt on the plane of Innistrad, who was involved in the summoning of Old Stickfingers. Although his village assumes him to have died, it may rather be that his body is possessed by Old Stickfingers, who is supposedly able to "wear skins".
History[ | ]
Arinos was a farmer in the village of Lambholt, known for his superstitions and protective charms. He kept teeth from various creatures as a form of folk protection. He lived with his daughter, Ariosa, in a small, stone house near a copse of alder trees. Arinos was a practical man, deeply concerned about his livelihood and family.
Facing the threat of losing his farm due to a debt dispute with his wealthy neighbor, Dein Salvasi, Arinos turned to desperate measures. In an attempt to protect his property and ensure his daughter’s future, either he or she or both of them together performed a summoning ritual. Arinos called forth Old Stickfingers, a nightmarish guardian spirit from local legend, to eliminate Salvasi and remove the threat to his land.
However, the summoning went disastrously wrong. Instead of being controlled by Arinos, Old Stickfingers broke free, turning on his summoner and spreading chaos in the village. Arinos was among the first victims, either killed or possessed by the very creature he sought to use as a protector. The creature continued its rampage, killing other villagers and spreading terror throughout Lambholt.
The arrival of Vadrik, an archmage from Nephalia, and Rem Karolus, a monster-slaying inquisitor, brought hope to the village. Vadrik, using his magic and intellect, and Rem, with his bravery and combat skills, eventually confronted Old Stickfingers. They realized that the creature’s presence was tied to the summoning ritual and the mobile Arinos had used. Vadrik destroyed the mobile, and then allowed Ariosa to finish the ritual, preventing Old Stickfingers from killing anyone except those Ariosa herself would tell it to. This neutralized the threat of Old Stickfingers, bringing an end to the creature's reign of terror, and it withdrew into the woods.[1]
