Bait counters are a type of counter introduced in Magic: The Gathering Foundations.[1]

Bait counters were introduced on Fishing Pole as a thematic way of representing a creature fishing. Removing a bait counter from the Fishing Pole allows a player to "catch" a 1/1/ blue Fish token.
