The Boreal Glacier was one of the four great glaciers covering parts of Terisiare during the Ice Age on Dominaria.
Description[ | ]
The Boreal Glacier was visible from Tresserhorn, and Lim-Dûl showed the view of it to Jodah during his stay there. Beyond the window there was ice. Not just a single great mountain crowned with a cap of snow, but a huge glacier cliff that rose higher than the keep itself. The glacier stretched as far as the eye could see in all directions, a battlement of white. The glacier was hundreds of miles wide and hundreds of feet tall. At its base was the loose litter of dirt pushed in front of it, hillocks of dirty gray. At the base of the keep, the glacier formed the Frost Marsh, a soggy, blackened swamp, dead trees erupting from the mire like skeletal hands.[1]
History[ | ]
Although the Boreal Glacier was the smallest and least destructive of the glaciers, it was nevertheless important as it cut off part of the Balduvian Steppes from the rest, rendering it inaccessible for the newly forming nation of Balduvia. This isolated spur of land became known as the Boreal and became home to the Cult of Rimewind, who built Rimewind Keep in the very coldest part of Terisiare. The Boreal Glacier grew south almost to the fortress of Tresserhorn and fed the Yavimaya River.
During the Flooding of Terisiare, the Boreal Glacier retreated fully, leaving the Balduvian Steppes significantly smaller than they had been before the frost. The Sea of Laments rose over the land, covering the Boreal and Rimewind Keep fully.

During the Thaw, the Boreal Glacier melted completely, leaving only the Sea of Laments behind.
