Bryce was a city-state in Jamuraa on the plane of Dominaria. It was located near the mouth of the River Toloron and the Bay of Pearls. Its governor was Hazezon Tamar.
Description[]
Bryce was a brown city of stone clinging to the shoreline of the Bay of Pearls, much hidden behind a tall stone wall split by the many fingers of the glittering River Toloron. Bryce was nicknamed the City of Bridges, or the City of Canals, because the River Toloron splintered as it fed the Bay of Pearls. After many attempts by city engineers to force the river into set channels, they'd finally given up and simply bridged the many fingers of water. Thus Bryce was picturesque, as beautiful and delicate as spun glass, with arching stone bridges and intersecting canals, but spread out and shot full of holes that made it impossible to defend. Built on stilts and rocks and flats, Bryce stood little above sea level, and hosted 12,000 citizens in the early War with Phyrexia era. Like the other cities of the Craggy Coast and Palmyra upriver, Bryce had been formed from rough and cutthroat pirates and sand bandits. However, its lucrative position at the intersection of the river and the coastline meant that Bryce grew soft and rich, its former pirates easing into a life of luxury, eventually viewing banditry as an annoyance. Reformed pirates hated practicing pirates, and after Bryce hanged a few wild buccaneers, life settled into a dull contentment of counting coins and flaunting wealth.[1]
