Duel Decks are a series of theme decks that started in 2007 with Elves vs. Goblins. They contain two 60-card decks with a total of eight rares, including two foil alternate art cards. The decks are usually designed and developed specifically to be played against each other by two people. Cards appearing in these sets may be from any non-Un set in Magic history but are in the post 8th Edition card frame. Many cards including the foil rares may feature alternative artwork in line with the theme of the duel decks. Flavor text is treated the same way.

Pirates vs. Ninjas
On April 1, 2008 as part of April Fool's Day, Wizards announced a Duel Decks: Pirates vs. Ninjas.[1]
