City is a former survivor of Duskmourn, who joined the Cult of Valgavoth and betrayed his safe zone, the carnival, to the House.

Description[ | ]

City was the strongest and most capable member of the carnival's foraging group, always returning unscathed from even the most dangerous expeditions into the House.[1] His bright blue eyes shine with an intensity that hints at something deeper, something that sets him apart. After joining the Cult of Valgavoth, he wore a tabard embroidered with the wings of a vast and colorful moth. As he moves, there's an air of purpose about him, as if he carries a secret that only he knows. His demeanor is usually solemn, his expressions controlled, giving little away. He was attracted to Dawn, hoping to bring her into the Cult of Valgavoth with him.[2]

History[ | ]

City had always been the leader of carnival's foragers, consistently returning from the House unscathed, while his companions bore the brunt of the danger.[1] Around 4564 AR, he, Rill, and Sunset returned to the carnival after a run where Rill was injured by a Wickerfolk. Upon returning, he revealed that He had aligned himself with Duskmourn and joined the Cult of Valgavoth. In his moment of betrayal, he offered Dawn a chance to join him, declaring that the time of safety had ended and that the House could now hunt freely. His transformation shocked his friends as the carnival fell into chaos around them, but Dawn bolted, leaving Rill and Sunset to be captured by the Cult.[3]

City tracked Dawn to an attic safe zone.[4] He set his Razorkin on the camp, killing everyone but Dawn, and revealed that he had asked for her life to be spared. He gave her a choice to join him in the Valley of Serenity or face a violent death like the others. After delivering his message, City left, leaving Dawn shaken and conflicted.
