Control Point is a test card only Battle type introduced on an Unknown Event test card at 2023 Minneapolis MagicCon. They have yet to appear on any eternal card.

Description[ | ]

A control point represents a location that two sides are actively fighting over in order to gain some advantage, regularly used in more action-oriented games like first-person shooters or third-person beat-'em-ups.

Control points are placed on the player’s side initially but when defeated are exiled and then placed under the control of the player who defeated it with a number of defense counters listed in the corner. The card grants some bonus to whomever controls it, such as how the test card Occupation of Llanowar has "At the beginning of your combat step, put a +1/+1 counter to target creature you control." on it.

This gives the player a continual effect but does not require an opponent to be running the appropriate removal to interact with, as they could use their board presence to defeat and gain control of.
