The Infamous Cruelclaw is a weaselfolk mercenary from Bloomburrow.[1] He is the leader of the Direshade Company.[2]
Description[ | ]
Cruelclaw wears a hooded red tailcoat and gloves and carries a poison-tipped rapier.[3] A scar covers his right eye, three diagonal lines as if a claw had raked his face.[4]
Cruelclaw has been many things: a lover sometimes, a scoundrel most of the time, and sometimes both.[5] Whatever he needs, whether it be money, connections, or power, he takes as he likes and will do anything to stay on top. He has a reputation for never turning down a job and never losing a fight, though he's never fought a fair one.
History[ | ]
Originally, Cruelclaw earned his keep as a ne'er-do-well filching raccoonfolk heirlooms from their abandoned homes.[5] Cruelclaw moved on to bigger jobs for more nasty clients.
Around 4564 AR, Cruelclaw was hired by King Glarb to steal Maha's egg.[2][5] After bringing the egg to Fountainport, Glarb and Cruelclaw were confronted by Mabel's party who had come to investigate the Calamity Beasts' rampage. The egg was returned to Maha and the king and Cruelclaw were defeated. The weasel subsequently fled the city.
