Dread counters are a type of counter introduced in The Lost Caverns of Ixalan.
Description[ | ]
Grasping Shadows uses dread counters to track the number of times a creature attacks alone. Shadows' Lair then trades those counters for card draw.
They appeared again on a test card for the 2024 Las Vegas Planechase Unknown event on No Way Out, a plane card of Duskmourn that starts with 3 of the counters. They are removed whenever chaos ensues allowing for each player to turn a face-down permanent they control face-up.
