Elkan was a mage from Balduvia who lived during the transition from the Ice Age to the Thaw of Terisiare, on the plane of Dominaria.

Description[ | ]

Elkan had a shock of blonde hair and wore long, garish crimson robes.[1]

History[ | ]

Elkan was a Junior Mage of Balduvia, and quite young for such an esteemed position. He worked as the commander over the orcish general Groth Jonar in planning battles against Kjeldor, secretly intending to use the orcs as cannon fodder. Elkan recruited goblins of the Flarg to participate in the battle of Balesh Pass, but the mage let his schemes slip to General Jonar right before the battle. Angered, Jonar locked the goblins in a trap between allies and enemies and used them as a distraction to attack the knights of Kjeldor. The goblins were slain, but Kjeldor suffered heavy losses and retreated. After the rout, a parley was called, and a furious Elkan demanded to know why Jonar appeared to be conceding the battle even as he was winning. Jonar responded by stabbing Elkan in the belly with his sword, killing him.[1]
