The Fall of Soldev was an event that occurred on Terisiare in 2954 AR.

Description

The Fall of Soldev was preceded by the actions of the Soldevi Adnates, led by Jaya Ballard possessed by the spirit of Mairsil-Lim-Dûl. The adnates had gained access to the locked vaults beneath the city, which contained excavated Phyrexian War Beasts that had been found in various locations near Koilos. The adnates had also stealthily reprogrammed the Soldevi Steam Beasts to respond to their specific commands. When Jaya brought Jodah to the city, she warned the city's leader Arcum Dagsson of the false danger of General Varchild setting up her army to conquer Soldev. This was a lie to create a distraction while Jaya effectuated her plans.

To counter the perceived threat of Varchild, Arcum activated all the steam beasts and set them charging about the mountains outside the Soldev searching for the rogue Kjeldoran general. Finding nothing, they returned to Soldev only to find it falling to ruin. In the meantime, Jaya and the Adnates had used the blood of Jodah, which contained the power of Urza or Mishra, to activate the Phyrexian war beasts. Jodah came within a heartbeat of dying from this process, but saved himself by augmenting several healing spells through his his mirror.

The war beasts tore out of the ground of Soldev and toppled all the machinists' towers, ravaging the city. Then the steam beasts, programmed to join them, charged the city from outside, spraying steam on the city's defenders. The city was quickly overwhelmed by the combined powers of the war beasts and the steam beasts, halting only once the healed Jodah confronted Jaya in the streets. Jaya then went on to send the war beasts and steam beasts to the bottomless pit in the School of the Unseen, leading directly to the destruction there as well. The final blow to the city of Soldev followed in Jodah's and Jaya's duel, when Jaya's spark forcefully erupted, destroying Mairsil and creating a massive column of a firestorm that lasted for two full days, leaving the city a scorched-out husk afterward.
