The Fall of Terisia City was an event in the Brothers' War that left the oldest and most advanced city-state on Terisiare in ruins.[1] Terisia City was notable for its beautiful Ivory Towers and its order of bookkepers also named the Ivory Tower. In addition, it served as the seat of the secret organization known as The Third Path, led by the Archimandrite.[2]

History[ | ]

In 44 AR, Mishra became inclined to put the region under his control when he reached a stalemate with Urza in the east. He tried diplomacy with the city council to gain their favor but was denied any support. His armies were then sent to besiege Terisia City for their refusal. However, the Terisian defenses were implacable and held the Fallaji at bay for months. Unarmed civilians were slowly moved out of the city, while the Third Path sought magical knowledge with which to combat their foes.

It is possible that the Fallaji would have been permanently stalled outside the city if it had not been for the Brotherhood of Gix, a priestly brotherhood of humans who had been welcomed into the Order. The Gixians, secretly worshippers of the Phyrexians, and thus in league with Mishra, finally betrayed the city after several months of siege, and opened the gates to the onslaught.[3][4] Hurkyl died as one of the defenders, casting a spell that would be named in memory of her - Hurkyl's Recall - to disappear three dragon engines from the battle. She was killed by spearman immediately afterwards.[1][2]

Drafna tried to retaliate, but was forced back into one of the towers. Terisia City was sacked by forces under the command of Mishra's loyal bodyguard Hajar. The beautiful Ivory Towers were all razed to the ground, and the rest of the city burned to cinders. A terrible Sandstorm blew up, obscuring any sight, which some said was the work of the Archimandrite. The land beneath the towers was honeycombed with tunnels, and enough survived to allow a safe escape to the hinterlands.

A grieving Drafna ordered the collection of all remaining artifacts to be shipped out, but Feldon thought the Sylex would be too dangerous in his hands, so he gave it to Loran and asked her to flee with him on her quick legs, while he escaped a different route on his bad leg. Although Loran managed to escape the siege, she was later captured by Ashnod, who took the Sylex from her but kept it from Mishra.[1]

It is believed that Terisia City's ruins lie in the current day Kovrian Wastelands.[5]
