Fire Eye was the Viashino Bey of Shiv in 3346 AR, when Urza came to take control of the Mana Rig.[1]

Description[]

When he met Urza, Fire Eye was an elder Viashino. A gray-grizzled wattle hung at his neck, and a bright red crest topped his head. Robed in purple, Bey Fire Eye stood at an ornate rail, the equivalent of a throne for a species with neither the physiology nor the need to sit. The rail was carved from one wall of a giant piston chamber. The circular space had become a pulpit, protected from attack on three sides. Its symbolism was clear — whoever stood within the ancient piston chamber embodied the power of the arcane machinery all around. Fire Eye exuded that power. His eyes were small and implacable as they moved across his audience chamber.[1]

History[]

When Urza traveled to Shiv, he was led to Fire Eye after some resistance from the viashino's champion dragon, Rhammidarigaaz. Fire Eye listened to Urza's proposal to use the Mana Rig to produce artifact creatures similar to Karn, but forged of Thran metal like the viashino produced in the rig. Fire Eye had two conditions for Urza - he wanted Gherridarigaaz, mother of his champion, gone from Shiv, and he wanted to possess Karn. Urza agreed to the deal on both counts.[1]
