oracle:"Fuse counter"

Fuse counters are a type of counter introduced in Weatherlight. They have acted as upkeep tracking for sacrificial and destructive abilities.

Description[ | ]

Fuse counters first appeared on Goblin Bomb in Weatherlight. It was an enchantment that would gain or lose a Fuse counter each upkeep based on a flipping a coin. It then had a sacrificial ability to remove 5 Fuse counters from it to deal 20 damage to the target Player or Planeswalker acting almost as an alternate-win condition since most often a player would not have more than 20 life.

They later appeared again in Urza's Destiny on Incendiary and Powder Keg. Incendiary was an aura enchantment that would gain a Fuse counter for each upkeep and then would deal damage to any target once the enchanted creature dies. Powder Keg also optionally gained a Fuse counter for each upkeep and had an activated sacrificial ability to destroy each artifact and creature with a mana value exactly equal to the number of counters.

In Odyssey the counters appeared on Bomb Squad which was a creature that had an activated ability to place Fuse counters on other creatures. A creature would then be destroyed once it had 4 or more Fuse counters on it deals 4 damage to its controller as well.
