Gav Beleren is a mage-ring engineer on the plane of Vryn, and Planeswalker Jace Beleren's father.[1]
History[ | ]
Gav became a father when Jace was born in 4534 AR, and he worked as a mage-ring engineer throughout Jace's childhood. Unlike his wife Ranna, Gav had a troubled relationship with his son. He wanted Jace to have a normal job, and become a mage-ring engineer like himself, and he resented his son for being abnormal and sticking out. Gav projected his disappointment to Jace often, and Jace knew that his father wanted a different life for him, but he could not help his growing powers. Gav also shows love and affection for his son at times but in a much more reserved way than Ranna.
After Jace's presumed death after his tenure as Alhammarret's apprentice, Gav split up with Ranna to go live on his own. He kept his job as a mage-ring engineer, and he later participated in the defense of Vryn during New Phyrexia's Invasion of the Multiverse in 4562 AR.
