Glimmer is a creature type introduced in Duskmourn: House of Horror.[1][2][3] Glimmers are always enchantment creatures. Though present in all colors, they are dominant in white.

Description[ | ]

Glimmers are creatures that still have a presence after they die. They are light manifestations of the hopes and persistence of Duskmourn's survivors, depicted in golden colors to produce a "sparkling effect."[4][5] As the physical manifestation of psychic phenomena, they take the form of treasured childhood objects, fondly remembered pets, friends, or other comforts that a survivor holds to prevent giving up. Glimmers offer magical protection against Valgavoth's insidious malice and help keep survivors from succumbing to the House's influence, even after the two are separated.[6][7] They can be extinguished when their companion loses hope or dies, and most long-term survivors of the house no longer have their glimmers.[8]

Trivia[ | ]

  • Glimmers may be inspired by the Patronus Charm of the Harry Potter series. Both are manifestations of light, often taking animal form, that drive dark creatures away. Glimmers are manifestations of a person's hope while the Patronus Charm is a manifestation of a person's happiest memories.
