Timeline summary

This is a timeline of the Magic: The Gathering storyline. It is an unofficial document, but all information on it is taken from official canon sources. All stories that could be dated, or could not be dated but could be placed at some point in the timeline because of their connection to other stories, have been incorporated.

Here is a selection of a few significant events:

 • 27-28 A new peace conference in Kroog also ends disastrously and is the official beginning of the Brothers' War.
 • 64 The final battle of the Brothers' War takes place.
 • 450 The beginning of the Ice Age of Dominaria.

Thanks, I appreciate you writing the summary :) --GeoMike 01:37, 10 March 2008 (GMT)

Purge

*Purging the cache: Sometimes you'll want to purge the cache of a page. Follow the following steps:
1. Click on edit
2. In the url replace action=edit with action=purge
3. Profit [1]
Note: Images along with any thumbs can be purged by doing a purge on the description page. This was recently necessary since pngs were sometimes rendered incorrectly before the update. *Italics in card tag: Use <c title="<i>italic text</i>">card name</c>
Note: <i></i> is a substitution for the HTML tag .

Some tips; you can use # to make an ordered list, and * to make a bulleted list. "
" should be used where necessary, and sparingly. You can always press [Enter] twice, I believe for a 'line/paragraph break thing'.

With purging a page, one may wish to 'hard refresh' (e.g. "Ctrl" + "F5"); it's more or less the same thing, but it does away with the click "edit this page" and change the action parameter from "edit" to "purge".

Anyway, keep up the good work, Oracle of Truth. MM (talk!) 08:12, 4 April 2008 (BST)

Afaik Ctrl + F5 bypasses the browser cache, I was referring to the server-side cache. Oracle of Truth 12:45, 4 April 2008 (BST)

Askref template

Great job on the new template - thanks for your hard work :) --GeoMike 00:56, 20 April 2008 (BST)

I unprotected the template page. --GeoMike 00:57, 20 April 2008 (BST)

You're welcome, and thx! :) Oracle of Truth 01:00, 20 April 2008 (BST)

Re: Edit to User talk: Magic Mage

My apologies with not replying sooner. I've been, well, neither here nor on the forums; but, at least I've popped in today (despite circumstances, illness, etc.). =p

It looks like GeoMike's already unprotected my beloved babe of a page (that I can no longer locate, part of having lost my way here). As for the template, thanks! It'll come in handy, as I'm sure it is now.

Thanks for your updates to the template page, by the way. =) MM (talk!) 15:57, 25 April 2008 (BST)

Congrats. MM (talk!) 15:56, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

SCGref template

... thanks... but, I think there should be more reason to use the template than for... at most one page [at the moment]; that page, found by using What links here, is Vintage Control Slaver deck... MM (talk!) 05:42, 5 June 2008 (PDT)

I hoped that it would be used for deck descriptions, since SCG.com is a good resource for this kind of information. Unfortunately no one seems to be working on them. Oracle of Truth 09:47, 5 June 2008 (PDT)

cosmology

Hi. Some time ago I started a Cosmology category in Polish. Now I implemented it in English, and will translate some additional articles connected with this topic. Please take a closer look to them, I'm sure I've made some (if not many) mistakes. Especially: cosmology and time streams (coming soon; here you can see the progress). Thanks for all help. --MORT (T) 22:02, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

I'll let you know if something is amiss. Good idea btw, I remember wondering how to categorize the article on the rifts ;) . Oracle of Truth 23:10, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

Meine Disku

Falls du noch nicht draufgeguckt hast, hab dir auf meiner Disku-Seite geantwortet. ^^ --Hó-òh Diskussion 18:18, 5 August 2008 (EDT)

Symbols

Where did those symbols come from? --GeoMike 23:03, 5 August 2008 (EDT)

I also wondered about them, I suppose that they are from the Time-Shifted Cards of Future-Sight, respectively, they were the first cards using them. --Hó-òh Diskussion 04:15, 6 August 2008 (EDT)
I think they need mention under the symbols that they are from Future Sight time shifted cards, then. --GeoMike 06:47, 6 August 2008 (EDT)
They are also used in Magic Online since v.3, so imo that's not necessary. Oracle of Truth 07:17, 6 August 2008 (EDT)
I don't have Magic Online so I wouldn't know that. It needs to state somewhere where these symbols came from. --GeoMike 11:58, 6 August 2008 (EDT)
Well ok, it does not hurt to have the description. Oracle of Truth 14:04, 6 August 2008 (EDT)

Time formatting

Hi, what about time formatting, and where to discuss? If it's ok here and you mean general time formatting in our articles, then I'd suggest to keep it consistent with mtg.com, since we have tons of references that already use this format ;) . It is also less ambiguous to Europeans compared to other (shorter) options. Oracle of Truth 19:19, 14 August 2008 (EDT)

Awesome, a response! :D Well, I am used to European time templating, DD MM YYYY. But, another thing is, my buddy from Germany, is the comma. Should we have DD[space]MM[comma][space]YYYY or DD[space]MM[space]YYYY? :) MM (talk!) 02:34, 15 August 2008 (EDT)
Usually there are no commas in European dates, they are separated by full stops (e.g. "15.08.2008" in Germany) or by slashes (e.g. "15/08/2008" in Great Britain). But as I said, we should really stick to the format Wizards uses, i.e. "Friday, August 15, 2008" (German equivalent would be "Freitag, 15. August 2008"). Oracle of Truth 06:32, 15 August 2008 (EDT)
Oh s[bleep][bleep][bleep]... I remember taking your stance once upon a time. Yes, we outta keep with Wizards on this. Can you guys change it to that formatting, please? Sorry.
I would, but you know what's up. :-/
Thank you, oracle of truth for all you've done, all you're about to do, and all you'll do. I guess this shall be my last edit before the sui-block works and stays. :P

Alacar Leoricar and licence issues

Have you checked with him whether it's ok to post all his stuff here? Remember that everything is made available under the Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.5 licence (at least nominally), obviously excluding the copyrighted stuff from Wizards (actually we really really have to mark all that material someday). Even if we forget about this a moment, he might not be comfortable with it. Oracle of Truth 06:40, 15 August 2008 (EDT)

Ok. I'll rmv it. HAHAHA, lol. We really haven't really addressed copyright. :P MM (talk!) 07:14, 15 August 2008 (EDT)

Lorwyn-Shadowmoor category

How about making a template that automatically inserts the lengthy text required, like Template:LorShad, or something? :P MM (talk!) 08:24, 17 August 2008 (EDT)

It only makes things more complicated to edit. Saving just ten letters isn't worth it. Oracle of Truth 08:31, 17 August 2008 (EDT)
Please explain, OoT... I don't understand. X'( MM (talk!) 10:42, 17 August 2008 (EDT)
What I thought you meant was: [[Category:Lorwyn-Shadowmoor]] - 30 letters, [[Template:LorShad]] - 20 letters. But apparently you mean something else by "lengthy text"... Oracle of Truth 13:09, 17 August 2008 (EDT)
Um, why would you link to a template? Inclusion works by using these braces: "Template:" and "", to close. So, Template:LorShad, or to keep it simpler, Template:Lorshad/Template:Lorshad, because it's such a hassle to capitalize mid-way a word. MM (talk!) 02:16, 18 August 2008 (EDT)
Ah right, sry^^. Still I don't think it's worth it. Oracle of Truth 07:35, 18 August 2008 (EDT)

Thanks for the Message

I see there's some discussion about copyright above. Is that why there isn't a page for every card? I can fairly easily knock together a program to create a magiccards.info-style page for each card and keep it up to date (although I don't have scans) if you like ... Bakert 18:28, 17 August 2008 (EDT)

That's not really an issue, at least for now. Duplicating magiccards.info is sort of pointless since both that site and this wiki are owned and hosted by Hannes. And as I said before, currently there is a consensus not to this. Oracle of Truth 20:55, 17 August 2008 (EDT)

Do you see what I see?

Legends#Design and Development... there's this code box. :-/ MM (talk!) 05:53, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

Huh, seems to be a bug introduced with the new version. Replace spaces after a reference with a newline and everything is fine ;) . Oracle of Truth 12:52, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
