Syr Imodane is a Human woman and pyromancer from Eldraine.[2] She briefly declared herself Queen.[3]
Description[ | ]
Imodane is a handsome brown-skinned woman whose face is silvered with scars.[3][4] She has long, brown, braided hair. One of her arms is made of a pliable enchanted wood that moves like flesh and muscle.[5] Dents and rends mark her armor, and she carries a massive war hammer she can set alight.[3]
History[ | ]
Syr Imodane was a good and noble knight who served at Castle Embereth, known to drink festival wine and boast loudly.[3] During New Phyrexia's Invasion of the Multiverse, she lost her arm to the invaders.
Following the Invasion, she left the castle and was at some point gifted a new enchanted wood arm by the Fae.[3] Becoming a raiding knight, she gathered at least a thousand rebels to her cause, crafted a makeshift throne from the bodies of fallen Phyrexian soldiers, and declared herself Queen. For six months she demanded tribute from nearby villages in exchange for her services in driving off raiders who likely consisted of her brigands. Despite this, the townsfolk had a fondness for her, causing acting king Will Kenrith to seek her out for parlay. As the two engaged in single combat, Will's sister Rowan grew so upset she cracked a massive rift in a nearby mountain, setting Imodane fleeing into the Wilds. There, she met the Fae Lord Talion, who tasked her with defeating Agatha, Eriette, and Hylda, the witch sisters responsible for the Wicked Slumber.
She attempted to enter Hylda's ice castle, giving up when the journey became too difficult.[2] She was later captured by Agatha and the woodsman Peter, who had been enchanted.[5] She was taken to Agatha's cabin while the witch prepared a stew to eat her, but Kellan stumbled upon the cabin, killing Agatha and rescuing Imodane.
She later returned to Will Kenrith, pledging fealty to the boy king.[6] She participated in the assault on Castle Ardenvale, helping to capture the witch Eriette and end the Wicked Slumber.
Trivia[ | ]
- According to Wilds of Eldraine Episode 2: Wandering Knight, Budding Hero, Imodane's right arm was replaced with wood, while her art depicts her left arm as having been replaced.[5]
