Jacob Van Lunen is a Magic: The Gathering player who won Pro Tour San Diego 2007, along with 2HG partner Chris Lachmann. Lachmann and Van Lunen were playing in their first Pro Tour, and won the event primarily by drafting Slivers. Among the players they defeated were Eugene Harvey, 2006 Rookie of the Year Sebastian Thaler, Hall of Famer Jon Finkel, and Hall of Famer Dave Humpherys. Their wins with the help of Virulent Sliver are believed to be the first time in Pro Tour history anyone won a top eight game with poison counters.
Jacob has since been involved in coverage and writing; he is a columnist at Magicthegathering.com, and formerly penned the Building on a Budget-articles for the same website.
