Birthplace Innistrad
Lifetime Mending Era

Jofridus was a Cathar, and secretly a Skirsdag cultist, on the plane of Innistrad.

Description[ | ]

Father Jofridus, once a respected figure at Thraben Cathedral, appeared as an elderly, seemingly frail man, whose strength belied his years. He possessed an air of authority and devotion to the Church of Avacyn. However, beneath this exterior, he harbored a dark secret, revealed through his betrayal and the demonic yoke that fused into his flesh.

History[ | ]

Jofridus was authoritative, appeared deeply committed to the Church, and was seen as a paternal figure to many, including Raben Amsel, whom he saved from execution and mentored. However, his true nature was revealed to be corrupt and treacherous. He was capable of brutal violence and manipulation, willing to sacrifice others to achieve his ends, as demonstrated by his cold-blooded murder of Reika Eberhardt and his attempt to corrupt Raben with promises of eternal life.

Raben, discovering Jofridus's betrayal and true nature, confronted him in a cavern beneath Thraben Cathedral. After a fierce battle, during which Raben slew a demon possessed form of Reika, he faced Jofridus and ultimately killed him with the cursed blade, the Bloodletter. Despite Jofridus's claims of invulnerability, Raben proved him wrong and decapitated him, ending his life. In a final act of despair and transformation, Raben donned the demonic yoke that had fused with Jofridus, embracing a cursed existence to fulfill his mission of vengeance and justice.
