Joskun was a Constable of An-Havva on Ulgrotha around the time of the Homelands (ca. 3800 AR).
Description[ | ]
Joskun was a practical, dedicated, and straightforward constable who played a vital role in protecting and maintaining the stability of An-Havva. His pragmatic approach and commitment to his community made him a respected and essential figure in the town.
Joskun served with passion, although not always with grace, as noted by Devin, a faerie noble. This indicated that while Joskun’s methods might not have been refined, his commitment to his duty was unquestionable.[1]
His pragmatic approach was evident in his dismissal of unnecessary concerns. He often scoffed at the idea of ambushes and reassured travelers about the safety of the roads to Koskun Keep, emphasizing that they were mostly safe. These attitudes reflected his focus on maintaining order and his confidence in the relative safety he helped establish.[2]
Joskun valued straightforwardness, especially in contrast to the cryptic nature of most faeries. He respected the faerie nobles for their directness, preferring clear and honest communication. This preference for clarity likely influenced his communication style and approach to his duties.[3]
His dedication to An-Havva and its people was unwavering. He believed the town was meant for good folk and expressed a protective stance towards the community.[4] Joskun downplayed fears of forest dangers, confidently asserting that there were no monsters, only squirrels,[5] and he strongly disapproved of the undead pirates, feeling uneasy about their presence and hoping they would keep their distance.[6]
Joskun and the other constables were crucial in maintaining the stability of the pioneer towns. They managed crises, organized fire brigades and hunting parties, and prevented anarchy. They also facilitated negotiations and upheld the treaty between Koskun and Aysen, understanding the dire consequences of its failure. Joskun's role extended beyond law enforcement; he was also part owner of the An-Havva Inn, living in one of the upstairs apartments, a central hub for the community.[7]
Given that hundreds of years have passed since his natural lifetime, it it is likely that Joskun is long dead.
