Jurgen Garensun was the mayor of Hanweir on the plane of Innistrad.
Description[ | ]
Jurgen Garensun was the mayor of Hanweir, depicted as a dominant and protective figure, particularly concerning his daughter, Lorelei. He was described as a "fattened calf" when Raben Amsel, a Cathar adept, presented his patents to him. This suggests that Garensun was physically robust, perhaps overweight, and likely enjoying the trappings of his position. His personality was authoritative and concerned with maintaining control, as evidenced by his stern letter to Farmer Reller demanding an end to rumors about his daughter and her suitor, Pitre.
History[ | ]
Jurgen Garensun's protective nature led him to strongly oppose the relationship between his daughter, Lorelei, and Pitre the thatcher, whom he viewed as an unworthy match. This opposition was clear in his willingness to go to extreme lengths, even suggesting he would "geist-lock" Lorelei to prevent her from marrying Pitre. During Raben Amsel’s investigation into the cursed weapon, The Bloodletter, Jurgen played a significant role in revealing the tragic fate of Pitre. He nervously complied with Raben’s authority and led him to Pitre’s grave, which was marked by blood-soaked soil, confirming the cursed nature of the weapon. This cooperation was part of the unraveling of the town’s misfortunes, the dark events surrounding Pitre's death, and the ongoing curse afflicting Hanweir.
As its mayor, Jurgen Garensun presumably became part of Hanweird, the Writhing Township when Emrakul entered Innistrad some years later.
