Kalemnos is triton who became one of the first of Kiora's Followers on Theros.

History[ | ]

After Kiora first planeswalked to Theros, she encountered a group of local tritons, one of which was Kalemnos. She was riding on a leviathan and loomed over them, and they peered at her with fear and awe. When she asked where she was, he told her they were near the human polis of Meletis, in the Siren Sea, on the mortal world of Theros, although she also heard whispers of Thassa and the Nyx, as well as the Silence of the Gods.

When Kiora asked Kalemnos about this Silence, he explained that when Kruphix had spoken, and the gods retreated into Nyx, they had named the absence of the gods the Silence. The mortals' prayers went unanswered, and the night sky was filled with darkness and unmoving stars, a frightening situation for any Theran.

Kiora bid Kalemnos join her on the leviathan. Kalemnos believed Kiora to be an emissary of Thassa, sent to guide them while the goddess herself was absent. Kiora played along, informing him that Thassa had delivered them a quest to gather the large sea creatures of Theros together. She rode out, and the pod of tritons followed after, while Kalemnos bravely clung the the leviathan's fin.

Kiora lounged on the leviathan's head, exhausted from her spellcasting but far too proud to show it. The sun warmed her skin, and the spraying sea moistened it. She rode in silence, enjoying the cadence of Kalemnos's voice and the power promised by his tales. The leviathan swam with steady strokes, away from the shore, toward the open water and all the secrets it held. They were hers for the taking. All she had to do was ask.
