Talrand, Sky Summoner |
Kalyntri was a vicious and arrogant dragon, large enough to swallow a baloth whole. Kalyntri terrorized the lands around the Kapsho Sea of Shandalar for over three hundred years until he was slain by Talrand the Sky Summoner and his drakes.[1]
History[ | ]
The dragon viewed the Kapsho as his kingdom and had for centuries kept both humans and merfolk at bay from his large hunting grounds.[1] When Talrand showed up at one of the many island caves Kalyntri used for lairs, the dragon quickly blasted him with flame, but there was no corpse afterward. The merfolk had teleported away before being struck by the fire.
One year later, Talrand showed up in the area again, loudly proclaiming dominion over all of the Kapsho seas.[1] Kalyntri was enraged and sought the merfolk out to eliminate him once and for all. Kalyntri found Talrand standing in the middle of the ocean amid several islands, a dark storm cloud overhead. When Kalyntri flew close, Talrand calmly told the dragon that he had tried to find use for him, but to no avail. The only option left was to kill him. Furious, Kalyntri blasted fire at the merfolk, but a wave rose to catch it. The dragon hit Talrand with his tail, but the seas surged around the merfolk to soften the blow of his landing. Then Talrand summoned forth large drops of rain from the stormcloud above, and the raindrops were not made of water, but of drakes. The drakes snapped and tore at Kalyntri while dodging the dragon's fire breath. Although Kalyntri did kill a few of the drakes, he was soon overwhelmed and sought to flee. A blast of a geyser from the sea toppled him onto the beach, and the drakes swarmed over him, tearing pieces of him off and eating them. While he lay on the beach dying, Kalyntri heard Talrand tell one of the larger drakes that he as promised had delivered the drakes from dragon rule in return for their aid. The drake then eagerly scampered over to Kalyntri's struggling body and tore out the dragon's throat. Thus ended the draconic terror of the Kapsho seas.
