Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty is the 91st Magic expansion. It is expected to be released on Q1 2022.[1]
Set Details
Public domain name registries connected to this name were filed by NetworkSolutions in October, 2020.[2] A further registration with the gg domain was filed by Wizards itself in May 2021.[3] The set was already hinted at in a public Magic survey from November 19, 2019 that featured multiple pieces of Planeswalker art with descriptions referencing a future Kamigawa.[4]
Storyline
The feudal past of Kamigawa sets the stage for the far-off future. Neon Dynasty is set 2000 years after the Kamigawa block.[5] It is a place where tradition meets modernity, featuring neon, ninjas and cyberpunk samurai.
The set features the new planeswalker Keito, a cyber ninja.[5] The current emperor of Kamigawa is someone familiar.[5]
