The northernmost bastion of Zhalfirin rule, Kiingal was a large port located at the northern coast between Zhalfir and the Kukemssa Sea on Dominaria. It was connected to the capital Ki'pamu by a south-running river.
Kiingal was phased out alongside the rest of north-western Jamuraa since the planeswalker Teferi wanted to spare it from the horrors of the Phyrexian Invasion. It was forever lost from Dominaria after Jeska destroyed the time rift over the Zhalfirin Void.
When Teferi's spirit was shunted to Zhalfir after the Temporal Anchor malfunctioned, he traveled to Kiingal, eventually settling in a satellite village 12 miles to its east as its Shaper Guildmage.[1] The satellite village is composed of clay-brick homes and long, low community buildings with living roofs. Holding granaries, kilns, smokehouses, cold forges, tanneries, and public stables, it is a hub for the farmers, fishers, hunters, and foragers that live in the region. Its creedhall, a small, domed temple, is the only building that stands out from the rest. A screen separates the inner domed space from the entryway, diming any light and muffling any sound that filters in from outside. The room under the dome is a pentagon, each face representing one of the five colors of magic. The mana well at its center holds a shallow, broad, stone bowl that burns Zhalfirin wellwood for incense. A low bench rings the room. Opposite the entry is a dark wall with a simple door set into it leading to humble quarters kept ready for members of the creeds.
At the conclusion of New Phyrexia's Invasion of the Multiverse, Wrenn and Realmbreaker returned the phased out Zhalfir to the multiverse by switching the landmass' place with that of New Phyrexia. Kiingal now exist as part of the plane of Zhalfir under the skies of Mirrodin.
