NPE Exclusive cards[ | ]

To facilitate the creation of the NPE (New Player Experience) and to transition players smoothly into the normal play experience, on July 14, 2018, the designers introduced some MTG Arena-exclusive digital cards (). On August 13, 2020 this group of cards became part of a non-rotating Arena Base Set in the new monocolor starter decks. The Arena Base Set also expanded the list of cards that are only available in digital form.

Some of these cards are accessible to players, and used to be Standard-legal for MTG Arena Bo1 (marked with {Tick}).[1] They are now only available in the Alchemy, Historic and Timeless formats. The rest were Tutorial-only (marked with {Cross}).

Rebalanced cards[ | ]

Main article: Rebalanced card

Rebalanced cards were first introduced in October 2021 to prevent an undesirable combo between Davriel's Withering or Davriel, Soul Broker and Vesperlark that resulted in a drawn game.[5] With the introduction of Alchemy format as an alternative to Standard, rebalanced cards became a regular part of Magic: The Gathering Arena.
