Description[ | ]
Malynn is an elderly woman who has lived in Lambholt for a long time. She is respected and known for her wisdom, especially among the children whom she teaches. She is stern and frightful, often emphasizing the importance of staying wary of the forest. Malynn was raised as a boy but chose to live as a woman, and the village accepted her decision. She is deeply knowledgeable about the village's lore and history, including tales of creatures like Old Stickfingers. Her appearance is marked by her age, and she often uses two wooden canes to support herself.
History[ | ]
Malynn played a crucial role in the investigation of the mysterious killings in Lambholt. When Vadrik, an archmage, arrived in the village, Malynn was among the council of crones and mothers who had called for his help. She immediately asserted her belief that Old Stickfingers, a mythical boogeyman, was responsible for the murders, despite skepticism from others.
During the investigation, Malynn provided valuable insight and historical context about Old Stickfingers, emphasizing the creature's longstanding presence in folklore and its real threat. Her deep-rooted fear and understanding of the creature guided Vadrik and the inquisitor, Rem Karolus, in their approach to dealing with the menace.
Malynn's knowledge proved vital when the archmage and the inquisitor finally confronted Old Stickfingers in a grove. After a fierce battle, Vadrik used his magical abilities to analyze and ultimately disrupt the summoning of Old Stickfingers by destroying a mobile crafted from twigs and bark that had summoned the creature. They later let one of the villagers, a girl named Ariosa finish the summoning ritual properly, effectively ending the threat against the village.
Malynn's contributions to the investigation were pivotal, and her wisdom and experience helped ensure that the village could be freed from the terror of Old Stickfingers. Although not directly involved in the battle or investigation, her understanding of the lore and her guidance played a crucial role in the resolution of the crisis. [1]
