Mine counters are a type of counter introduced in Odyssey. They are placed on lands, which were destroyed if the land becomes tapped.
Description[ | ]
Mine counters first appeared on Mine Layer in Tempest. It was a creature that had an activated ability to place Mine counters on lands. Whenever a land with one of the counters became tapped it would be destroyed. The mine counters only remained for as long as Mine Layer was on the battlefield. This represented landmines being placed on the lands and blowing up the land upon its use.

- In Magic Online, the counter is colored orange as its considered a negative effect and shares its icon with Magnet, Mining, Ore, Pressure, Silver, Storage, Trap, and Winch counters.[1]
