Mire counters are a type of counter used by Cyclopean Tomb, first printed in Alpha. They turn lands into Swamps.
Description[]
The original Alpha printing of Cyclopean Tomb referred to the counters as "tokens", before being given errata and being re-printed as Mire counters. Cyclopean Tomb is an artifact with an activated ability to place the counter on a non-Swamp land. The land then becomes a Swamp. After the artifact leaves the battlefield, on each subsequent upkeep all of the counters are removed from 1 land, which removes the effect from that land.
Trivia[]
- A mire is a stretch of swampy or boggy ground.
- In Magic Online, the counter is colored orange as its considered a negative effect and shares its icon with Collection, Descent, Fetch, Invitation, Oil, Slime and Soot counters.[1]
