Mytaru was a minotaur of the Urhaalan clan in the Dark Age of Terisiare, on the plane of Dominaria.[1]
Description[]
Although he was primarily a warrior, Mytaru also had access to the magic of his mountain home and used his spells in battle to surprise his foes.
History[]
Mytaru was Urhaalan Valley minotaur of the Utyeehn clan of House Mytaaurun. After the clan adopted the human boy Yunnie into their ranks, the two became close friends, and eventually became blood-brothers during a ceremony. Like many of his clan, Mytaru was a proponent of warring with the elves, falling for the manipulations of Sacumon into thinking their southerly neighbors were to blame for the increasing damage and deaths that were caused by the Niroso's coal golems. Mytaru became one of the instigators of the war, and when Yunnie started to protest and go so far as to actively avoid engaging in combat, an enraged Mytaru disowned his new blood-brother and had him expelled from his clan.[1]
Without the protection offered by Yunnie and his Living Armor, the tide of battle turned against the minotaurs, causing widespread loss of lives of the Urhaalan. Mytaru started using his magic to cloak bands of minotaurs, enabling them to surprise the elves in quick skirmishes, but Sacumon continued to use her coal golems to wipe out entire minotaur villages, eventually leading Mytaru to awaken the stone avatar of Tiyint, the legendary Urhaalan hero of old. The giant statue slaughtered the elves en masse, but in a fit of bloodlust, Mytaru's orders to Tiyint backfired. Suddenly, the giant stone minotaur turned on its creators, killing many of the Urhaalan and causing earthquakes as it went. Pardano, son of Aesor, was killed in a cave-in caused by one of these earthquakes. Eventually, Mytaru saw no other way out than to sacrifice himself by donning the Living Armor which Yunnie had finally managed to get rid of. Tiyint grabbed Mytaru and squeezed him in his hand, but the magic of the armor caused the damage to rebound back to the statue, causing Tiyint's life force to drain out even as it crushed Mytaru to death.
