Nadu is an aven wizard from Amonkhet.
Design background[ | ]
According to the designers of Modern Horizons 3, Nadu, Winged Wisdom underwent a design revision shortly before the set was shipped. Because of this, the design team did not anticipate the power of its synergy with 0-mana activated abilities, such as that of Shuko. This resulted in decks built around Nadu dominating at Pro Tour Modern Horizons 3. They contained a powerful combo that generated infinite mana and drew through the deck, were resilient to interaction, and took extremely long turns. As a result, Nadu was banned in Modern on August 26, 2024, and a companion article was released by Wizards noting that it was a design mistake.[1][2]
