Nolan is a human from an unknown plane who has ended up on Thunder Junction.
Description[ | ]
Nolan is an Outcaster from the territories, who studies ancient magical artifacts. He's a mercenary for hire, known for being willing to do almost anything for the right price, including maintaining silence if paid extra.[1] His attire includes layers of fur, moss, and cactus armor, typical of Outcasters. He has a wiry mustache that curls in all directions, adding to his wild and untamed look.[2]
History[ | ]
Given Nolan's expertise in magical artifacts, both Oko's crew and Bertram Graywater's Sterling Company were interested in obtaining his services to help them unlock the vault above Tarnation. Once Oko's crew learned of his existence from Annie Flash, Nolan was already on a train to Prosperity under the protection of Sterling mercenaries because Graywater sought his expertise. Oko's crew staged a train heist, and after a tense battle with the guards, during which Satoru Umezawa was injured, Nolan was captured. Nolan was hesitant and fearful but was ultimately forced to jump from the train to safety with the help of Annie and her mount, Fortune.[1]
After escaping from the train, Nolan was brought to the gang's hideout. Nolan was put in a vulnerable state, his eyes covered with a thick cloth, and his hands bound with rope. However, these restraints were almost redundant as Nolan was under the influence of Eriette's charms, which left him in a state of near-euphoria, making escape or resistance unlikely. Rendered docile and compliant, the crew extracted the information they sought directly from his mind. Jace Beleren, under the guise of Ashiok, extracted details about the location of Tarnation from Nolan's memories.
Nolan's memories revealed crucial details about the artifact the crew sought, specifically that it was one of six keys needed to access the vault in Tarnation. Nolan's survival instincts as an Outcaster were acknowledged by the crew, though they ultimately decided to escort him partway home rather than leave him stranded. Nolan did not actively resist or interact with his captors beyond what was imposed on him.[2]
