Obyra (oh-BEE-ruh or oh-BEYE-ruh)[1] is a famed Faerie duelist and princess from Eldraine. She is one of the fae lord Talion's daughters.[2][3]
Description[ | ]
Obyra is considered the greatest duelist in Eldraine.[4] She carries a magic rapier fashioned from a spindle of golden thread.[1]
Inspiration[ | ]
A princess taken by a sleeping curse, Obyra is based on the titular character of "Sleeping Beauty." Her spindle weapon and fairy attendants also serve as references to the fairytale.
History[ | ]
Obyra is a daughter of the fae lord Talion and the princess of the High Fae. When the Wicked Slumber expanded to encapsulate the realm, she was afflicted by the curse.[4] Her finely tuned sword-fighting instincts couldn't be suppressed, and she roamed Eldraine seeking other duelists even while asleep.[5] Meanwhile, Obyra's attendants, Beauty, Song, and Blessing, tried to keep her out of trouble with whatever means necessary.[4]
Obyra presumably awoke after the curse was broken.
