Ogwater Rifkin was a songmage in Sumifa.[1]

Description[]

Ogwater was a man of small stature, but his most prominent feature was his enormous, sunburnt nose, a veritable colossus he could not hide even when wearing a hood. He was a destitute drunk, begging and picking pockets to make a meager living, but spending most of it on alcohol.[1]

History[]

In 3050 AR, Ogwater encountered Cheyne in Sumifa. Saelin, one of Riolla Hifrata's assassins, attempted to decapitate the young man with a disk to claim his totem, but Ogwater tripped Cheyne up, saving his life, and hid him on a rooftop. Then they assaulted the assassin together, knocking him out. Ogwater picked Cheyne's pocket, then showed him secret passages through the city walls of Sumifa, to return to the digsite via backways.[1]

Cheyne later recruited Og to join him on a trip to the Chimes, where the Beast of the Hours lay sleeping beneath Mount Sarraza. Along the way, Ogwater collected his four magical gemstones - the red from the orc Rotapan in Wyrvil, the blue from the selkie chieftain Wiggulf, the white from the elven healer Luquin, and the black from Ogwater's former lover, the crime boss Riolla Hifrata. After playing the music from Samor the Collector's chronoclave and singing Claria name-song, Ogwater released the Beast of the Hours and banished it.[1]
