Oliver is the rabbitfolk mayor of Goodhill, on the plane of Bloomburrow.
Description[ | ]
Oliver, the small, cinnamon-brown rabbitfolk mayor of Goodhill, is a charismatic and flamboyant figure who stands out despite his diminutive stature. Adorned in a bright blue vest and yellow cravat, he combines a sense of dignity with an approachable, if somewhat theatrical, demeanor. Oliver's round, expressive eyes and reedy voice make him a memorable presence. His natural curiosity and slight nosiness drive him to be deeply involved in the town's affairs. However, his tendency to downplay serious concerns, like the threat of the Night Owl, reveals a certain naivety. Despite his good-hearted intentions and dedication to his community, Oliver's love for grand gestures and embellishments sometimes makes him appear insincere or dismissive. Nevertheless, his charm and genuine admiration for his fellow townsfolk keep him well-liked and central to Goodhill's social life.[1][2][3]
History[ | ]
Oliver approached Mabel before her birthday party, engaging her in a polite yet persistent conversation. During her celebration, he subtly pressured her to display Cragflame, her family heirloom, but Mabel deflected his requests with tactful responses. When a commotion arose involving a stranger in distress, Oliver hurried to investigate but was soon overtaken by Mabel, who took charge of the situation. As a crowd gathered, Oliver hovered nearby, concerned yet indecisive, while Mabel orchestrated the care of the injured frogfolk and prepared for the challenges ahead.[1]
Oliver exhibited both concern and dismissal when faced with Helga's story about the Night Owl and the destruction of Pondside. Initially, he greeted Helga warmly and attempted to offer comfort, but his tone shifted to one of skepticism as she recounted her tale, including a potential vision she had. Oliver laughed off her account, attributing it to an overactive imagination due to her artistic nature. After consoling her briefly when she became overwhelmed with emotion, Oliver quickly excused himself, prioritizing the ongoing festivities over further discussion of Helga's dire warnings. Once outside, he reassured the villagers that there was no need to worry about Calamity Beasts, focusing instead on maintaining the party's cheerful atmosphere.[2]
Upon seeing the heroes return to Goodhill, Oliver seized the opportunity to address the gathered crowd with a passionate and embellished speech. His enthusiasm was evident as he climbed onto a box to be seen, delivering an impassioned soliloquy that added dramatic flair to the heroes' journey. Although the details of their adventure were stretched by his imagination, the crowd seemed only half-attentive as they were more focused on the feast being laid out. Nonetheless, Oliver's speech added to the celebratory atmosphere of the homecoming.[3]
