Palliation counters are a type of counter introduced in Dissension. They can be removed to prevent damage to the player

Description[ | ]

Palliation counters first appeared on Palliation Accord in Dissension where they were originally known as Shield counters before they were given errata when Shield counters were introduced as a mechanic in Streets of New Capenna. It is an enchantment that gets a Palliation counter placed on it whenever an opponent's permanent becomes tapped. The player may then remove one of the counters to prevent 1 damage from being dealt to the player during the turn it was removed.

Trivia[ | ]

  • Palliation is the alleviation of a disease's symptoms without a cure, also referred to as temporary relief.
  • In Magic Online, the counter is colored green as its considered a positive effect and shares its icon with Muster and Phylactery counters.[1]
