The Peace Summit at Korlinda was a planned meeting between the forces of Kroog and the Fallaji Empire. The summit happened in Korlinda, which was part of the independent and neutral kingdom of Korlis.
Description[ | ]
Korlinda was more of a military camp than a city. The Yotian warlord and his forces traveled there to meet with representatives of Argive and Korlis, and the Qadir of the Fallaji Empire was also invited. Officially, the intended topics were peace talks, trade agreements, and border alignments, but unofficially, the Warlord of Kroog and Rusko planned a show of force, demonstrating their superior air power with their squad of advanced ornithopters. [1]
Both Urza and Mishra came along to the summit, in their official roles as Chief Artificer of Yotia, and raki to the Qadir, respectively. The Fallaji arrived late, on the morning of the third day of the summit, after talks between the three kingdoms had already started to turn sour. The brothers saw each other for the first time at the summit since they had left Tocasia's camp. Their meeting was filled with awkward tension, but they initially were glad to see each other again, despite their differing roles. However, when the Warlord of Kroog and the Qadir could not agree on ownership of the Sword Marches, a fight broke out. The Warlord ordered the ornithopters to bomb the dragon engine, which was an act of war. Although this would be called Yotia's declaration of war, it does not count as the official start of the Brothers' War, due to the brief period of relative calm that lasted until the Fall of Kroog.[1]
In retaliation to the ornithopter attack, the Qadir assassinated the Warlord in a quick fit of rage, stabbing him in the chest with his saber. Urza's avenger grabbed the Qadir by the neck, choking him, but Ashnod used her Staff of Zegon to weaken it, forcing it to release the Qadir. Urza tried to strengthen his avenger with his Mightstone, and Mishra used the Weakstone, at the same time. The opposite forces overloaded the Avenger, making it explode. The Fallaji then fled the scene, Ashnod dragging the coughing Qadir behind her. The Fallaji fled across the Kher Ridges, harassed by ornithopters as well as ground troops. [1]

Notes[ | ]
- The members and victims of the peace summit differ between sources. The prerevisionist comic Antiquities War includes Kayla bin-Kroog in the summit, with the Lord of Korlis being the person who was killed. This was revised in the canon The Brothers' War (novel), where Rusko was the representative from the Yotian side, and it was the Warlord of Kroog, not the lord of Korlis, who was killed.
- Kayla bin-Kroog would later call this event "The Dawn of Fire" for its ramifications for Kroog, and this term was picked up by Xantcha, who owned several copies of the text.[3]
