Pedron is a petty king and conqueror from Torrezon on the plane of Ixalan, and enemy of Elenda of Garrano and her followers. [1]
Description[ | ]
Pedron the Wicked is portrayed as a malevolent and treacherous figure whose actions are driven by greed and betrayal. His notoriety is highlighted through his infamous theft of the Immortal Sun, a powerful artifact originally safeguarded by a holy order in the mountains of Torrezon. His wickedness is emphasized through the bitter recounting of his deeds by Mavren Fein, who despises Pedron for his betrayal and greed. Pedron's actions had far-reaching consequences, as his theft of the Immortal Sun set off a chain of events that destabilized the balance of power on all of Ixalan, as the Immortal Sun had granted immense power to its possessors. This power was lost to Torrezon after Pedron's raid and would create chaos and bloodshed for decades after, both in Torrezon itself and on the continent of Ixalan.
History[ | ]
Pedron was born mortal. He became a conqueror on the continent of Torrezon and is particularly infamous for having raided the monastery where Elenda of Garrano and her fellow warrior nuns defended the Immortal Sun. Despite the sacred protection and the dedicated custodians guarding the artifact, Pedron's army managed to steal it, killing most of the monastery's occupants.
After the raid, Pedron stood outside the monastery, victorious, the Immortal Sun clasped in his hands and its powers coursing through his body. But he was denied his prize, as the artifact's creator Azor had had enough of the bickering for the Immortal Sun on Torrezon. The great sphinx swooped down and claimed the Immortal Sun from Pedron's hands.
One of the few survivors of Pedron's raid was the warrior nun Elenda. She ran outside to challenge Pedron for the sacred relic, but could only watch as the Immortal Sun was carried away by the huge winged beast in the sky, headed west across the sea. Deciding to follow, Elenda crossed the sea after it, while Pedron stayed behind in Torrezon.
It is not known what happened to Pedron after Elenda left, but it is well known that Elenda returned and granted the nobility of Torrezon the gift of immortality in the form of vampirism. It is unknown if Pedron partook of this gift, with or without Elenda's knowledge.
