Radha (RAH-dah[1]) is the granddaughter of the Keldon warlord Astor and an elf of Skyshroud,[2] and is the first-discovered of a new breed of potential Planeswalkers by Teferi.[3] As such, Radha shares a strange connection with the time rift hovering over Skyshroud.[4] Due to her role during the Time Spiral crisis, Radha's spark has never ignited.
Description[ | ]
Radha is a large woman with Keldon ash-colored skin, a black mane and bulky muscles, but the pointed ears and blue markings of a Skyshroud elf.[5]
History[ | ]
Radha was always a fiercely independent elf, disputing and even ridiculing Freyalise's xenophobic stance for her people. She aided the planeswalker Teferi during his attempts to save Dominaria from the time rifts, and eventually abandoned her home and drove the Gathans from Keld.[6]
During the events of Future Sight, Radha was approached by planeswalker Jeska, who asked her for help with closing the time rifts. Radha refused, and the two barbarian women fought. Jeska won by instinctive use of her latent powers of Phage. Radha was tethered and taken by Jeska to Zhalfir, where the planeswalker used her to channel the mana to the rift, closing it. Radha was greatly weakened by this act. Jeska then took her to Yavimaya to close another rift. Radha met Multani, who created a bond between her and Yavimaya, allowing her to use green mana again and filling the vacancy in Radha's soul created by the destruction of Skyshroud. Jeska then used Radha again to close the rift in Yavimaya. During the Zhalfirin rift closing, Radha and Jeska's minds merged, allowing the two women to experience the lives of each other. Radha's temper was changed by dealing with Jeska and participating in world-scale events. On Madara, Jeska was taken by Leshrac, who sent his shadow assassin Dinne il-Vec to deal with the mortals (Radha, Venser, Jhoira and Teferi). Radha fought the shadow warrior and by using newly reestablished green mana abilities, she anchored him in the physical world with a green healing spell, then burned him to ash with her Keldon magic. After Leshrac was defeated and the Madaran rift closed by Nicol Bolas, the party went to Otaria to close the last rift. Radha and Venser willingly accompanied Jeska to the heart of the rift and lent their powers to the planeswalker. Jeska's final act closed the Otarian rift, as well as all others.
Radha returned to her camp afterward. Her hotheadedness, cruelty, and blood thirst were changed by her recent experiences, and she became a more rational, and a bit more caring being. She traveled up the sacred Keldon Peak known simply as the Mountain to retrieve Astor's famous daggers, and claimed her Keldon heritage by bonding herself to the Mountain.[7] With Skive and Dassene as her lieutenants, she became the leader of the joint new nation of Keldon elves and humans who were attempting to restore Keld to its former glory. However, repeatedly closing time rifts with Jeska permanently extinguished her planeswalker's spark, thus she will never be able to ascend.
Radha defeated the last Gathan warlord and became the Grand Warlord of Keld. She quietly revolutionized Keld. The taking of slaves as plunder has been abolished, and Keldons now learn industries and crafts.
Fighting the Cabal[ | ]
Sixty years after the Mending, Radha walked a precarious path to restore the original character of Keld while existing in a time of relative peace.[8][9] She was captured under unknown circumstances by the Cabal, and was forced to fight in the Stronghold's fighting pit. It was only by the timely arrival of Gideon Jura, that she managed to escape. During the escape, she ended up killing Whisper.[10] She helped Gideon and Chandra Nalaar to find the Blackblade, and organized the spirits of Urborg in their attack on the Cabal.
Dominaria United[ | ]
In 4562 AR, Radha led the Keldon delegation at the peace summit at Oyster Bay to end hostilities with Benalia in the Ice Rime Hills.[5] The summit was interrupted when the planeswalkers Karn and Teferi revealed the threat of a New Phyrexian invasion and several of the Benalish knights were revealed as Phyrexian sleeper agents. She was present at the Battle of the Mana Rig.
Radha fought in defense of Dominaria during New Phyrexia's Invasion of the Multiverse.[11][12]
