Ranalus is a criminal vedalken rogue and former scholar from Esper who joined the Seekers of Carmot to leave her shard. She has been known as Ranalus the Heretic, Queen of the Coatls, and The Blue Hermit.
She has been wanted for heresy, maltreatment of a member of the Ethersworn, desertion, unlawful removal of etherium enhancements, and suspicion of protection and harboring of a wild beast.
History[ | ]
Ranalus was a vedalken scholar known to be a troublesome student. She was not known to be respectful in sanctum discussions, talked back to her superiors, and failed to respect the Ethersworn etiquette protocols. It is even rumored that she was once scolded by Sharuum, the Sphinx Hegemon, herself. While promising in her learning, her attitude and actions led to her becoming somewhat of an outcast in Esper society.
When the war broke out, she volunteered to join the Seekers of Carmot and perform reconnaissance duty. One such mission led her to be in deep cover in the jungles of Naya. In the jungles, she grew to like the wild green mana and decided to renounce Esper and repudiate the principles of the Filigree Texts. She slowly extracted every thread and joint of etherium from her body while a large Nayan snake known as a coatl offered its regenerative powers to her. The painful ritual removed the magics of Esper from her mind in exchange for a kind of enlightened jungle mysticism. This allowed her to create new connections with the jungle around her increasing her powers of divination and evolution.[1]
