Rotapan was an overking of Wyrvil in 3050 AR.[1]

History[]

Rotapan was a four-foot-tall half-orc of little wit but with fierce fighting skills. Growing up in the orcish society of Wyrvil as an underdog given both his mixed-race heritage and his small size, he had to constantly fight to survive. And survive he did, eventually becoming underking, and then overthrowing the overking and becoming one himself. After he claimed the throne, he beat back several attempts to overthrow him in turn, killing all his would-be usurpers and earning great respect among his underlings. Rotapan's kills included Carsh, Clutch, Glom, Jepli, Puffer, Rafek, Rasper, and Sawsa.[1]

Rotapan made his realm in the southernmost part of Wyrvil, next to the inland Silver Sea. He worshipped Chelydrus, a giant sea snake or water drake inhabiting the sea, and built his palace out of the bones of his enemies. A constant mission to his underkings was to collect more bones and skulls, adding floor after bone floor to his palace. His most prized defeats were the skulls of his greatest rivals, which he preserved inside a cabinet. Rotapan used a magical gemstone attached to a scepter to keep the skulls' spirit trapped and used them as a strange council of advisors.[1]

By 3050 AR, Rotapan had become very old for an orc, but still, he was undefeated in battle. He had captured the king of the River Kingdom of selkies, keeping him trapped underwater in his basement. Cheyne, Claria, and Ogwater Rifkin were granted an audience, and distracted Rotapan long enough to steal the scepter holding the magical gem, and escape across the Silver Sea. Rotapan followed them, thwarting several attempts on his life during the journey, but he did not manage to find them. After the songmage Ogwater cast a spell to melt the ice of Drufalden's cold kingdom, a great flood inundated the Silver Sea. Rotapan and the remains of his bone palace were swept away by the rush of water, and the last thing Rotapan saw as the water surged past him was the great toothed maw of Chelydrus stretching to meet him.[1]
