Rust counters are a type of counter introduced in Visions that were used to destroy artifacts.
Description[ | ]
Rust counters first appeared on Corrosion in Visions. It was an enchantment that would place a Rust counter on an opponent's artifacts each upkeep. The artifact would be destroyed when the number of counters was greater or equal to the mana value of the artifact. Artifacts destroyed this way also could not be regenerated. This represented the artifacts being corroded by rust.

- In Magic Online, the counter is colored orange as its considered a negative effect and shares its icon with Fungus, Growth, Matrix, Petal, Polyp, Pupa, Spore and Vitality counters.[1]
