Secret Lair Drop Series: Happy Yargle Day! Secret Lair Drop Series:April Fools Zendikar Rising

Secret Lair Drop Series: April Fools, or Wizards of the Coast Presents: After Great Deliberation, We Have Compiled and Remastered the Greatest Magic: the Gathering Cards of All Time. Ever, is a drop of cards in the Secret Lair product range and a continuation of the Secret Lair Drop Series.[2] It was announced on April 1, 2020, and distributed through WPN shops on September 11, 2020.[3]

Description[ | ]

The people at Wizards have agonized over this, arguing and shouting and using deeply personal insults to crush the wills of those with dumb opinions. After months of R&D in-fighting, they have arrived at an undeniable list of the best Magic cards of all time. And what's more, they've somehow made them even greater with glorious brand-new foil full-art treatments.

Card list[ | ]

Drop Card number Card/Token Artist Notes
April Fools 060 Storm Crow Jesper Ejsing Full foil
April Fools 061 Goblin Snowman Victor Adame Minguez Full foil
April Fools 062 Mudhole Titus Lunter Full foil

Originally, the set also included a full-art foil Squire (#59). On June 22, 2020, it was announced that the card would be removed from the drop and not be printed.[4] This came on the same day that Wizards announced they would be terminating their relationship with the card's artist, Noah Bradley, following revelations of sexual misconduct.[5]

Planeswalker[ | ]

In contrast to the other Secret Lair drops so far, this product doesn't contain one of the 36 stained-glass War of the Spark planeswalkers. It is replaced by a white-bordered Tibalt, the Fiend-Blooded with the Duel Decks: Sorin vs. Tibalt art by Chase Stone (#537).[6] Coincidentally, this is both the first white-border M15-onward card frame and the first white-bordered Planeswalker.

Availability[ | ]

Although announced as an April Fools joke, it was revealed that at some point in the future, after the passing of the COVID-19 outbreak, the cards would be printed and provided to WPN stores at no charge, to use at their discretion.[2] This happened when small numbers of the set were allocated to all WPN locations in September 2020 (1 for each regular WPN shop, 5 for WPN Premium shops).[3]
