Simon Nielsen is a Danish professional player.
History[ | ]
He became known for winning the 2014 World Magic Cup as a member of the Danish national team, at which he famously turned around a seemingly unwinnable game by topdecking the one-of Duneblast (dubbed the "Daneblast") in a crucial situation.[1] Nielsen also has seven Grand Prix top eight finishes including wins at GP Birmingham 2018 and Las Vegas GP 2019, and he has Pro Tour Top Finishes at 3rd during Pro Tour The Lord of the Rings, 7th place at Pro Tour March of the Machine, and 2nd place at the New Capenna Championship. He also finished third in the 2023 World Championship[2] and became Player of the Year for 2023.[3] With a 2nd place finish at Pro Tour Murders at Karlov Manor, he was the first player to have four consecutive top finishes. Later that year, he won Pro Tour Modern Horizons 3.[4]
